While both these articles were written half a decade ago, they accurately reflect the diverse attitudes still held towards multimedia reporting. New media journalism emphasizes the importance of possessing a wide range of skills, so that one journalist is therefore more equipped to portray the story accurately and informatively to the audience. However, with this shift, a fear of loss of depth and specially is widespread throughout the journalism community. A convergence journalist at times seems to be an impossible figure, wielding technical mastery over all fields. However, perhaps it will take a generation of convergence-trained journalists to bolster news media, making it once again a successful field that can provide in-depth, analytical and meaningful pieces to the audience via the medium they increasingly use the most: the web.
